Power of Enquiry – Message from Mr.KV.Prasad

Dear Fellow Engineering professionals,

I belong to 1986 pass out batch of BE Metallurgy ( 4T30) from VRCE. I went to IISc, Bangalore and completed ME in Foundry specialisation offered by Mechanical Engineering department. I worked in all types of foundries for more than 3 decades and retired recently.

Many engineering professionals I came across my service have an opinion about Metallurgy – it is theory, theory and more theory. It is difficult to study maintain interest in it. But my opinion is exactly opposite. It is very interesting subject provided one is capable of imagining things at micro level. Only Micro biologists can imagine viruses and solve Covid 19 problem and contribute to society. All it needs is the ability to imagine at micro may be Nano levels.

If Yes, Why? ; if Not why Not? Type of questions made me think so deeply and analytically that my fundamentals became strong.Probably this must be the feeling of all the students of Rama Rao sir.

I can proudly and confidently declare that today I can draw Fe-Fe3C diagram blind folded. The credit goes fully to our beloved HOD (then) of Metallurgy Prof A. V. Rama Rao sir. With his infinite Patience, Passion, Professionalism, he used to hold the attention of full class effortlessly.
It was smooth flow of pure knowledge of metallurgy from Great sir to us. River Ganges makes lands of many States it flows very fertile, Rama Rao sir made students coming from all Indian states to VRCE confident in physical metallurgy.
He might have left the world physically, But the physical metallurgy knowledge he gave us will be with us forever. His students can never forget his pleasant nature and devotion to his teaching job.

Thanks for giving us a very good life sir.
K. V. Rao
